Upton Trio ends 2013 education season at NCHS

The Upton Trio gave the final performance of its 2013 education project season Monday at North Central High School. This year’s project, “Strum Me a Story: A Celebration of American Folklore,” had Upton Trio composer and violinist Mary Lee Taylor Kinosian said the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) focusing on literature themes and folklore. Kinosian, who also plays with the South Carolina Philharmonic, composed a “multi-movement piece” that gave musical life to the “Bruh Rabbit and the Tar Baby Girl,” by Virginia Hamilton; “Borreguita and the Coyote” by Verna Aardema; “A Tale of Pecos Bill” by Tony Palazzo; and “Ask the Bones -- Scary Stories from Around the World,” by Olson and Schwartz.
