A former Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been acting as Bethune’s police chief since not long after the late Larry Davis resigned following his diagnosis of terminal cancer in February. Bethune Town Clerk Janice Hunter confirmed former deputy Jimmy Miller is acting as chief on a temporary basis. Meanwhile, according to minutes of Bethune Town Council’s April 12 meeting Hunter provided, council unanimously voted at that meeting to hire Brandon Brown as a police officer effective April 15.
