County asks KershawHealth for $3 million to continue EMS
New Ambulance Cutout
Kershaw County is asking KershawHealth for $3 million to assume operating emergency medical services (EMS) for the first 21 months following the anticipated March 31 takeover of the hospital by Capella Healthcare of Franklin, Tenn. The county is asking KershawHealth to make the payment out of the money Capella will pay to lease KershawHealth’s real estate and purchase its furniture, fixtures and equipment. KershawHealth officials said paying the money would jeopardize the hospital’s ability to meet its obligations to bondholders, retired employees, other creditors and the community.
