KershawHealth to be sold to Prisma Health

KershawHealth’s parent company, LifePoint, announced Thursday that it is selling the hospital -- along with two Providence Health facilities in Columbia -- to Prisma Health. Prisma Health formed out of the merger of Palmetto Health and the Greenville Health System. According to its website, the nonprofit healthcare company’s Midlands division currently owns Baptist, Children’s, Health Heart, and Richland (Memorial) hospitals in Richland County and Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. Prisma Health and LifePoint Health announced Thursday that the two companies have signed an agreement for Prisma Health - Midlands to acquire KershawHealth. Prisma will also purchase Providence Health in Columbia. In a press released, Prisma officials said the addition of KershawHealth and Providence will provide new opportunities to advance the delivery of accessible high-quality care in communities across the regions it serves.
