The chance of someone getting the wrong medication while being treated at KershawHealth could be greatly reduced in the next three years thanks to new technology the health care system is purchasing. KershawHealth Board of Trustees member Scott Ziemke reported at its Nov. 7 meeting that the board’s finance committee approved the purchase of a computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system for $1 million that would include not only software, but hardware as well. “We will be installing 81 computers in nursing units throughout the hospital,” Ziemke said, filling in for absent finance committee chairman George Corbin.
