KershawHealth doesn’t want to be the exception anymore. Administrators said KershawHealth can no longer sustain an average of $846,000 in yearly losses on operating the county’s emergency management services (EMS) and that the county should cover those losses -- something at least 29 other counties do in South Carolina. On a 7-1-1 vote during a meeting Monday, the KershawHealth Board of Trustees authorized President and CEO Donnie Weeks to formally request Kershaw County Council provide funding for the healthcare organization’s EMS deficit and ongoing capital expenses beginning in July.
