Abby Palmer, KershawHealth’s director of safety and emergency preparedness, will make her annual safety report to the KershawHealth Board of Trustees tonight. The board will meet at the Health Resource Center on Battleship Road beginning at 6 p.m.; the meeting is open to the public.

During the meeting, KershawHealth CEO Terry Gunn will also report on employee recognition and provide another update on the due diligence being performed between the hospital, Capella Healthcare and MUSC Health. Capella is leasing KershawHealth’s real estate and purchasing its furniture, fixtures and equipment in a $36 million deal slated to close March 31. MUSC Health is the Medical University of South Carolina’s patient care arm, and will be collaborating with Capella in operating KershawHealth as part of the companies’ Midlands ONEHealth Network.

Later in the meeting, the board will enter executive session to receive legal advice regarding the Capella/MUSC Health deal and to receive legal advice on the county’s pending takeover of emergency medical services, or EMS.

Also during tonight’s meeting, Trustee Steve Holliday Jr. will give a report on activities from the board’s compliance committee.
