This map from the U.S. Geological Survey’s website shows how far away Monday morning’s earthquake could have been felt from its epicenter near I-20 east of Elgin. The 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck around 1:30 a.m. Monday. The rings show that the 1:30 a.m. quake could have been felt as far north as near Charlotte, N.C., west to Saluda and Newberry, east to Florence and south to Orangeburg.
An approximately 3.3 magnitude earthquake woke up a lot of people in Kershaw County around 1:30 a.m. Monday. The quake struck just north of I-20 near Rio and K Lane roads east of Elgin.
