A conversation with a ‘living legend’
Born in 1928, Vivian Metze recalls life, education career running for school board
Vivian Metze
Former long-time educator and former school board member Vivian Metze at her home on Market Street. Born in 1928, she attended Boylan-Haven-Mather Academy and went on to teach science in Kershaw County schools. During her tenure on the school board, her peers elected her as vice chair and then chairman. (Salley McInerney/C-I)
Vivian Metze’s small brick home with bright green shutters is situated on Market Street, just shy of the high school football stadium. The fenced yard is an uncanny collection of plants. Big and small.
