Animal control seizes 49 horses, 47 dogs following tip
Foster Volunteers
Andrea Walker (middle row, second from right) poses with just a few of the more than 20 volunteers who answered her call on Feb. 28 to take care of 47 dogs seized from a home in the eastern part of the county. Kershaw County Animal Control also seized 49 horses from the same property which, along with the dogs, were in various stages of neglect. Hearings to determine the animals’ dispositions will likely take place Monday. Next to Walker is one of the rescued dogs being held by a volunteer.
It’s been a week since Kershaw County Animal Control took possession of 49 horses and 47 dogs from a rural property east of N.R. Goodale State Park. Since then, dozens of volunteers have been fostering and working to nurse the animals back to health.
