Budget gets first reading, and sewer tax goes away
Budget Graphic
For at least 15 years, every Kershaw County homeowner living in unincorporated areas of the county have paid county sewer millage whether they received county sewer services or not. Kershaw County Council approved the creation of the Kershaw County Sewer District in 2007 as a way to pay down debt used for the construction of the county’s current wastewater treatment plant and associated infrastructure. If there was ever a rate increase, it has been at least 11 years, if not longer, since that has happened.
