Citizens concerned about biomass plant

The feedback from Kershaw County residents at a public meeting Wednesday night was largely negative as citizens living near a proposed biomass plant set to be constructed on Park Road expressed a variety of concerns over the project. Around 20 residents attended the meeting, asking questions related to possible decreases in property value, the plant’s permitting process, mechanical failures, plant smells and air quality. Kershaw County Economic Development Director Nelson Lindsay said the county’s goal for the project is to bring new jobs and investments to the economy with as little negative impact as possible.
