S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) Director Dr. Beverly Buscemi recently visited the Kershaw County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs (KCBDSN) to speak with families about how services and care for their loved ones will be affected in the next year due to budget expansion and legislation. Buscemi emphasized the legislation, referred to as the Final Rule, will affect the type and quality of services which are provided throughout South Carolina “The Final Rule relates to home and community based service. Basically, it is the federal government -- and anyone who leverages Medicaid -- raising the bar and saying that we want to provide services in even more of a community inclusive model in South Carolina,” Buscemi said.
