County adds budget work sessions

Not much work was done on the upcoming fiscal year’s budget during Kershaw County Council’s meeting on Tuesday as council members decided to use later work sessions and meetings to hash out budget details before the end of the fiscal year on July 1. The budget up for discussion on Tuesday was the original $23.24 million proposal recommended last week by the county, but the second reading of that budget was postponed due to objections over increasing taxes and using money from the reserve fund. According to Chairman Gene Wise, a new, unofficial budget by Interim County Administrator Frank Broom had been formulated and distributed to the council on Monday.
