Kershaw County is one step closer to creating a housing authority following collaborative efforts by Kershaw County Council and the county’s legislative delegation, according to Councilman Bobby Gary. Gary originated the idea for a new county housing authority, saying it would help get a roof over the heads of the homeless or county residents struggling to pay rent. Gary noted that the county performs a homeless county every two years, with around 80 people being designated homeless during the last count.
