County council to hold public hearing, vote on budget

Kershaw County Council, which normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, decided earlier this month to cancel its June 23 meeting in favor of one today. The idea: to wait until the last minute to pass third and final reading of the county’s proposed $47.15 million Fiscal Year 2021 budget -- which goes into effect Wednesday -- in order to gain as much knowledge about what the state plans to do with its budget due to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus pandemic.
