Several hundred dead fish lining the shores of Lake Wateree have drawn increased concern from area residents. According to Gary Faulkenberry, vice president of external affairs for the Lake Wateree Association (LWA), the fish have been found near the Lugoff side of the lower section of the lake. The LWA, a group of home owners dedicated to maintaining the quality of the lake, has been working with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to investigate the cause.
