New County Council 2023
New Kershaw County Council Chairwoman Katie Guinn (center) presides over her first meeting on Tuesday evening. The meeting marked a number of changes, including council’s seating arrangement. At far left is District 1 Councilman Russell Brazell; the seat next to belongs to District 2 Councilman Sammie Tucker Jr., who was unable to make the meeting while traveling; the District 3 seat between Tucker’s and Guinn’s is vacant pending a special election to replace S.C. State Rep. Ben Connell; followed by the councilmen for districts 4, 5 and 6, respectively, Jimmy Jones, who was elected vice chair, Brant Tomlinson and Danny Catoe. (Martin L. Cahn/C-I)
There were changes aplenty with Kershaw County Council’s first meeting of 2023 under the new leadership of Chairwoman Katie Guinn. Despite those changes, things ran smoothly during the approximately two-hour and 15-minute meeting.
