The son-in-law of a former Kershaw County sheriff recently received an award from the S.C. Law Enforcement Officers’ Association (SCLEOA). Newberry Police Chief Jackie Swindler received an inaugural award named for him, the Jackie Swindler Award for Ethics and Excellence in Law Enforcement. Swindler is married to the former Sherry Horton, the daughter of former Kershaw County Sheriff Jerry Horton and his wife, Colleen.
