James Davis has been appointed chief magistrate for the summary and municipal courts in Kershaw County. Davis initially came to Kershaw County as its recreation director asnd became a magistrate judge in 2013. The chief justice of the S.C. Supreme Court routinely appoints new chief magistrate judges throughout all 46 counties in South Carolina; these chief magistrates are responsible for the overall administration of the summary and municipal courts, Davis noted.
