Despite the growing shift from reading hardcover books to reading digital downloads via the Internet, the Kershaw County Library continues to grow according to Library Director Amy Schofield. The library’s Camden and Elgin branches have experienced a 9.5 percent and 42 percent increase, respectively, since 2002. While the library’s smallest branch in Bethune has attracted fewer visitors overall in that time, the library’s “bookmobile,” which provides portable library access, has seen a 153 percent increase in usage.
