KCC may revisist penny sales tax referendum

A county-wide penny sales tax proposal, similar to a measure placed on the Nov. 2010 general election ballot, may once again be up for a vote from Kershaw County residents. Kershaw County Council Vice Chairman Sammie Tucker Jr. introduced plans at council’s meeting Tuesday to place a one-cent sales tax referendum on this November’s general election ballot as part of an effort to provide additional funding for county recreational projects. If approved, Tucker’s proposal would initiate the establishment of a six-member committee tasked with investigating the formulization of the tax and providing a list of potential recreational projects.
