KCC moves forward with setting millage rate

Aiming to get county tax notices out by October, Kershaw County Council unanimously approved first reading in title only of an ordinance setting the county’s millage rate during its meeting Tuesday. County Administrator Vic Carpenter explained that approving the ordinance on first reading in title only allows council to flesh out the actual “body” of the ordinance before council’s meeting Sept. 11. Councilman Stephen Smoak asked Carpenter if the county anticipated any increase or decrease compared to last year’s millage rate.
