KCC passes fee, millage and ARPA resolutions

On split votes Sept. 14, Kershaw County Council passed two resolutions asking the S.C. General Assembly to allows local governments to set user fees for critical needs, such as public safety and infrastructure, and to temporarily remove a cap on millage rates in order to fund the county’s addition of career/paid firefighters. Council then passed a resolution, also on a split vote, on a resolution regarding the use of $13 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds the county expects to receive in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
