Kershaw County Council members will likely be making several thousand dollars more a year come January if the latest version of the county’s budget holds up on third and final reading in two weeks. Members voted 4-3 in favor of a motion by Councilman Sammie Tucker Jr. to increase his own salary as vice chairman from approximately $11,000 to $15,000 and his fellow councilmen’s salaries from approximately $10,000 to $13,000. The motion did not include a suggestion to increase Chairman Gene Wise’s salary from its current $16,363.
