Kershaw County Council meets today at 5:30 p.m. to discuss a fee in lieu of taxes agreement, approving the financing of sewer system improvements and amending an ordinance related to the jointly owned and operated industrial/business park developed in conjunction with Sumter County, among other business. Council will hold first reading of an ordinance authoring the execution and delivery of a fee agreement by and between KC and Project Local (pseudonym of an industry coming to the county), its affiliates and assigns to provide for a fee in lieu of ad valorem taxes incentive. According to County Administrator Vic Carpenter, the ordinance is by Title Only, which allows council to start the process of getting ready for the industry as more of the details emerge.
