Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the upcoming Unity Day Countywide Celebration in Camden is a time to honor an extraordinary man, minister, humanitarian, and civil rights leader who first gained national prominence during the bus boycott in Montgomery, Ala. Let us not forget that King entered college at the age of 15 and he had a dream of change by peaceful means. His idea added to the movement’s numbers and gave to it a sense of moral strength. He dedicated his life to the nonviolent struggle and civil rights in the United States.
