Palmetto Utilities seeks extra discharge at Spears Creek

Kershaw County Council will hold a special work session from 3 to 5 p.m. July 26 to receive information about and discuss a request from Palmetto Utilities of Richland County to increase its discharge into Spears Creek in Kershaw County. According to information provided to council during its meeting Tuesday, Pacolet Milliken, which purchased Palmetto Utilities in March 2015, is asking to increase its discharge into Spears Creek by 3 million gallons per day (mgd). The change, if approved, would increase Palmetto Utilities discharge into the creek from 6 mgd to 9 mgd.
