The Kershaw County Capital Sales Tax Commission reached a preliminary consensus Monday to propose a six-year penny sales tax for county residents, which would generate about $25 million to be used for recreation projects. Commission Chairman Ray McElveen said he believed the funds generated by a six-year tax would provide substantial benefits to the county. “I think with $25 million we can get a lot done,” McElveen said.
