Kershaw County Council will take up third and final reading of an ordinance amending the county’s code of zoning and land development regulations concerning communication towers, antennas and the definition of a “fall zone.” At its Sept. 10 meeting, council voted unanimously to pass second reading with a reminder from County Attorney Ken DuBose that Tuesday’s meeting would would include a public hearing before the ordinance could go through third reading. At the Sept. 20 meeting, one community member expressed concern that the ordinance’s first reading was passed arbitrarily and that did not agree with changing the minimum distance between towers from 5,000 to 1,500 feet.
