Kershaw County Council determined during its work session Thursday that one of the county’s two majority African American districts may have to transition to a non-minority district during the upcoming redistricting process. District 1, represented by Councilman Bobby Gary, and District 2, represented by Vice Chairman Sammie Tucker Jr., are the two districts that may be affected. Redistricting must occur every 10 years to reflect population changes calculated by U.S. Census totals.
