Bethune Town Council closed out 2017 with some positive notes and ambitious goals for the coming year. Councilman Don Witham reported that the new stoplight for the town’s main intersection is now installed and functional. The project, which called for significant improvements to the intersection at S.C. 341 and U.S. 1 included a stoplight, which replaced a four-way stop and caution light as well as delineated crosswalks, pedestrian signal controls, and other such pedestrian friendly amenities, was paid for with a state grant in the amount of $650,000.
