Unemployment rate ticks up in county, state

While Kershaw County’s jobless rate continues to remain near South Carolina’s average, both the county and the state have experienced two consecutive months of unemployment increases. The county’s unemployment rate jumped 1.1 percent to 9.5 percent from May to June according to statistics recently released by the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW). As a whole, the jobless rate in South Carolina moved from 9.1 percent in May to 9.4 percent in June.
