Kershaw County Council Chairman Gene Wise made his stance very clear Tuesday regarding the introduction of a new 1 percent county-wide sales tax. “This is not the time to raise our sales tax and I will vote no on this proposal,” Wise said, garnering cheers from the audience inside council’s chambers. The proposed tax is part of a larger plan introduced by Council Vice Chairman Sammie Tucker Jr. to fund recreational projects in the county for voters to consider during this November’s general election.
