Elgin Town Councilwoman Melissa Emmons is running for mayor in the upcoming February 2015 election, when her current term on council ends. “I knew that I was going to seek reelection for my council seat because of my passion for this community. When Mayor Hanley decided he was not going to seek reelection, I decided that I would run for mayor,” Emmons said.
