She’s about to enter “The Zone.” She is 15 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, sitting on top over a half ton of muscle and bone that in seconds will be careening at 30 miles an hour with her in command. Sound and sight are narrowing. The crowd noise and the lights are fading. She is becoming one with her horse. This is “The Zone.”
