The fifth annual “Lights of Lugoff” Christmas parade will begin Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 1 in Lugoff. The 2012 parade is sponsored by the Lugoff Optimist Club and local businesses. The parade route will begin at the BP Station in Lugoff, travel down U.S. 1 South, and then turn right on to S.C. 34 (Ridgeway Road). All spectators are asked to remain around U.S. 1 for the parade.

Prior to the event, roads will be closed for the safety of the participants and spectators. U.S. 1 will be closed and detoured at 6 p.m. for both the north and southbound lanes. The detour will follow Ward Road to Lachicotte Road and back to U.S. 1. Boulware Road at S.C. 34 will also be closed at 6 p.m. for all traffic not involved in the parade lineup. Spectators of the parade are to park and observe the parade on U.S. 1 only and are encouraged to avoid the areas around the Lugoff Post Office, Plaza Drive, Boulware Road, and Dewitt Drive.

Parade entry forms and parade information are posted on the parade website at or can be picked up at First Palmetto Bank in Lugoff.  Entry fees are $25 for floats and $350 for a supplied professionally decorated float. Checks need to be made out to the Lugoff Optimist Club.

All floats and parade participants are to use Boulware Road to Plaza Drive to access the parade line-up area. The parade line-up will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of C. Ray Miles Construction on Plaza Drive across from the Lugoff Post Office. Parade, fire and law enforcement officials will be saturating the parade route to assist in the safety of all participants and spectators.
