A committee of citizens interested in building a new playground in western Kershaw County reports it has already reached 7 percent of its fundraising goal in less than two months. The citizens committee met Thursday evening at Lugoff Fire-Rescue headquarters. Committee Chairperson Laurey Carpenter said the projected cost for construction is $300,000 and that $21,000 has been raised since the fundraising campaign began in June.
