The construction of a picnic shelter at Elgin’s Potter Community Park is nearing completion after months of planning. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the picnic shelter will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6. “Our picnic shelter is in the process of going up,” Elgin Town Councilwoman Dana Sloan said during council’s meeting Tuesday night.
