Power outage hits part of Lugoff

More than 1,570 Lugoff area homes and businesses were temporarily without power and traffic was stopped Monday afternoon after a piece of heavy equipment reportedly hit a power pole and caused transmission lines to fall across U.S. 601 at Exchange Drive, just north of I-20. Duke Energy Progress spokesman Lisa Hoffmann said the company had a crew nearby and the problem was resolved quickly. “The power went out at 3:13 p.m. and was restored at 4:09 p.m.,” she said.
