Truesdale being sworn in by Major James D. Bowling
Lugoff native, 2nd Lt. Adam Truesdale was honored as a newly commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during a ceremony on Dec. 12 as part of Francis Marion University’s Army ROTC program. Truesdale took the oath at a gathering of former teachers, professors, family, friends and university officials. Missing from this cadre of onlookers was his grandfather, who was the motivation for his joining the armed forces. "(My grandfather’s) service in the Air Force was really what inspired me to pursue a career in the guard," Truesdale said, "It also inspired a love for history and the military."
