The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County’s recent evening of Dancing with the Stars was a huge success. In fact, it was the biggest fundraising success in Dancing with the Stars history. The event was directed by KFA dance instructor Alexis McDonald, who also choreographed dance numbers for the Dancing with the Stars teams. The audience was also treated to dance performances by the KFA Camden Crew during the program. This year’s teams included Laurin Burch and Hailey Swails, A.J. Cooke and Erin Haynes, Laurie Slade Funderburk and Jack Pierce, Betsy Greenway and Ivan Harris, Brandon Moore and Morgan Schoolfield, Christy Price and Brandon Campbell, and Casey Robinson and Charleston Thompson.
These eight teams competed for four main awards -- the Entertainment Award for the most entertaining team, the People’s Choice Award for the team who raised the most money, the People’s Choice Runner Up Award, and the Technical Award for the best dancers.
This year’s winners were:
• Entertainment Award: Tyler Cupp and Amanda Smith
• People’s Choice Award: Laurie Slade Funderburk and Jack Pierce
• People’s Choice Runner Up Award: Casey Robinson and Charleston Thompson
• Technical Award: Christy Price and Brandon Campbell
The FAC is grateful for the hard work by all of the teams, volunteers, community business’ support, event photographer Johnny Deal (Bowtie Photography) and the KFA Dancers. Dancing with the Stars was sponsored by Sue and George Sensor of Sensor Enterprises, Luke’s Automotive Repair, and First Community Bank.
