2019 Year in Review - Part 2 of 2
Baker murder, North Central elementary among top stories
Daniel - First Halloween 123119
JULY: Sarah Beth Bradley holds her son, Daniel, during their first Halloween. Daniel died at the age of 27 months in August 2017 after falling from inside a car on Bishopville Highway east of Camden. Sarah Beth is now an advocate for car seat safety. Their story came full circle in December when Kelly Matlaga. -- who had read the July story while living in Camden -- made sure her daughter was securely buckled into her car seat on the day when another vehicle T-boned her SUV in early December.
While there were certainly happier moments, three deaths dominated our headlines during the second half of 2019. There has likely never been an investigation quite like that into the murder of Eddie Baker. Nor has there been quite the emotional roller coaster that culminated in a decision to close three elementary schools in favor of building a new one in the North Central area of the county.
