Duke Energy to begin hydro station project

Duke Energy will begin a project at Wateree Hydro Station that will allow only two units to be available between early October and the end of January 2014. According to information Duke Energy sent to the Lake Wateree Association, the company scheduled the work outage for the fall season because it is historically drier and the greatest risk for tropical storms will have passed. “Depending on actual weather conditions, particularly rainfall, Duke Energy will operate the lake below seasonal monthly target levels to create additional storage space for any rainfall we may receive during this planned unit outage,” the company said.
