Singleton-econ ambassador

Steve Singleton (center), general manager of Canfor Southern Pine (formerly New South Lumber Co.), has been honored as an Ambassador for Economic Development by the S.C. Department of Commerce and legislative leaders. S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley (left) and House Speaker Bobby Harrell (right) gave their congratulations to Singleton for the recognition, which came as part of the state’s 20th annual Industry Appreciation Week and recognizes individuals for their exceptional efforts to bolster community and economic development activities in South Carolina. Singleton has been actively involved in the manufacturing and economic development communities in Kershaw County. In 2010, he played a major role in convincing his company to expand its operations in Camden. The company is currently installing new state-of-the-art equipment aimed at making the facility more efficient and profitable, which could lead to additional jobs at the facility should business conditions continue to improve. Singleton is a member of the Kershaw County Industrial Association, the Kershaw County Committee of 100 and the Santee Lynches Regional Education Center Advisory Board.
