Get a real taste of spring at the season opening of the Kershaw County Farmers Market Saturday.
Kicking off its seventh year, the farmers market will bring back its eclectic assortment of vendors and products, including plants, flowers and herbs, vegetables and fruit, other food items such as baked goods, lamb, rice, cheese, honey and peanuts, candles, yarn and artisan offerings.
The farmers market is located behind First Community Bank at 631 W. DeKalb St., Camden. It is open from 8 a.m. to noon beginning the second Saturday of April through the second Saturday in December, and admission is free.
Several special features are scheduled on the 2011 calendar including Jazz Festival Saturday featuring live music at the market April 16, held in conjunction with the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County’s Jazz at the Center Music Festival, and Earth Day Egg-travaganza April 23, with special Easter- and Earth Day-themed activities for youngsters.
Local farmers, gardeners, artists and restaurateurs are welcome to rent a table to sell their products.
