The Kershaw County Amateur Radio Club provides demonstrations of ham radio equipment at local events throughout the year. Saturday, the club will be holding a Field Day to showcase the capabilities and importance of the technology.
Local amateur radio enthusiasts will be gathering from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Camden Military Academy (CMA) to take part in an Amateur Radio Field Day. The event is scheduled in conjunction with Amateur Radio Week as a way for local radio operators to meet and for newcomers to learn more about the technology, often called “ham radio.” Lee Griggs, of the Kershaw County Amateur Radio Club, said ham radio is a great activity for any local hobbyist.
