A Kershaw County native was among 62 new Virginia State Police troopers who started their career patrolling in counties and along interstates across the Commonwealth this month. The newest troopers – including Charles E. Hewitt -- were members of the 116th Basic Session which graduated from the Virginia State Police Academy in Richmond June 24. Hewitt, 29, of Camden, earned a bachelor degree from Emory & Henry College.
