Logan Raye, a luxury spa and salon that is well-known in the Columbia area, has opened a new facility at 1025 Broad St. in Camden. Sewell Gelberd, owner of Logan Raye in Columbia, said he heard via the beauty grapevine that an existing salon was closing shop in Camden. He was introduced to Billy Silver, who owns the building where the former shop was located. Soon, Gelberd and Silver were discussing partnership in a Camden-based Logan Raye. The new shop employs more than 10 technicians on hand each day: Barbara Copeland, Vivian Watkins, Tina Branham, Andrea Finch, Ashley Parrott , Samantha Bradley and Ashley Frost, hair stylists; Angel Carter, skin care specialist; Amber Scherer, nail specialist; Crystal Boykin, massage therapist; and Jenn McGowan, operations manager. Logan Raye features two Columbia-area salons and two cosmetology schools, one in Columbia and the other in North Charleston. Gelberd and Silver said they are excited about another small business that will be housed in one area of the Camden salon. They’ll only reveal that it’s centered around their mutual respect for “anything old.” Celebrating the salon’s opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony recently were (from left) Barbara Copeland, Jenn McGowen, Silver, Camden Mayor Jeffrey Graham, Gelberd, Tina Branham and Chip Galloway, vice president of business and community improvement, Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. The phone number for Logan Raye is 432-4446.
