The Boylan Haven-Mather Academy National Alumni Association will host an informal information session Saturday regarding the newly established endowment of the former boarding school.
The meeting will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Camden First United Methodist Church, 710 W. DeKalb St., Camden.
The endowment, which was approved by the alumni association at their last gathering in Charleston in August 2010, was established to help educate students who wish to attend Claflin University and devote their lives to education. The endowment is also a means of keeping the legacy of Mather at the forefront of history in Camden and South Carolina.
Representatives of Claflin College will be on hand at the meeting to present information on how to guide the endowment toward growth and toward its mission to help students in need of a helping hand. There will also be information on how donations may be made in the name of a family member who attended or taught at Mather.
